As a Drafting Checker, you will ensure drafting project completeness, accuracy, and overall quality in accordance with engineering designs, internal standards, manufacturing capabilities, customer specifications, and AISC & AWS standards. A basic understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes is essential, along with a strong grasp of drafting practices, exceptional attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. JOB FUNCTION:

• Reviews customer documentation and discusses any discrepancies with the appropriate team member(s).
• Checks all drafting project files for completeness, accuracy, and conformance to manufacturing capabilities, common drafting practices, engineering designs, customer specifications, and internal and industry standards.
• Follows the checking process to ensure corrections are made and the process is properly documented.
• Provides guidance to Drafters to help reduce errors in the future.
• Ensures CAD files are properly constructed and milestone dates are properly recorded.
• Performs final checks on project files for proper construction and nomenclature before releasing projects.
• Completes checking tasks on time per project requirements.
• Review areas of concern with the Drafting Manager to develop procedures and improvements in the Drafting department.
• Performs other job-related tasks as assigned by the Drafting Manager.
• Works closely with cross-functional team members.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

• Associate degree or Certificate in Structural or Mechanical Drafting.
• 3+ years’ work experience as a Structural or Mechanical Drafter.
• 3+ years’ work experience checking other Drafters’ work.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proficient with AutoCAD and Inventor.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills in structural or mechanical drafting.
• Demonstrated skills using mathematics, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work well with other team members.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of common drafting practices and AWS weld symbols.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Basic knowledge/understanding of engineering principles.
• Basic knowledge/understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
