Job Description

Responsible for the conservation, protection and preservation of historic furniture and historic structures. Builds, repairs, and fabricates wooden items including but not limited to furniture, doors, trims, and moldings. Repairs foundations and stonework on historic structures.

 

COMPENSATION: The hourly rate for this position is $36.62 to $36.62. If both numbers are the same, that is the amount that Aramark expects to offer. This is Aramark’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for this position as of the time of posting.​

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Active participation in the Historic Preservation Academy.
  • Must understand the National Historic Preservation Act, NPS rules regulating historic preservation of NPS assets and be able to work with NPS BRM. 
  • Must be able to identify and/or research wood species in original construction and furniture, and repair in kind.
  • Install or repair building fixtures such as doors, windows, and latches in accordance with NPS standards.
  • Fabricate/repair molding, trim, muntins, rails, stools, and aprons on shapers using in kind practices.
  • Repair furniture,cabinets, and shelving by proper techniques consistent with period of fabrication.
  • Follow blueprints, specifications, rough sketches or oral instruction.
  • Repair of any type of building material such as, but not limited to walls, floors, roofs and foundations.
  • Assist Management in on-site inspections and respond to regulatory non-compliance and to the best of ability - mitigate or limit any future inspection violations.
  • Work closely with Historic Preservation Manager, Facilities Manager and Aramark Safety & Risk
  • Control Manager to identify, mitigate, and resolve risk & safety issues.

Qualifications

  • Six years previous experience working in historic preservation with movement agency preferred.
  • Must understand the PEPC process, and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
  • Previous experience in all aspects of carpentry, masonry work, and stonework.
  • Must be able to do a variety of physical activities including but not limited to climbing, bending, crawling and lifting at least 50 lbs. consistently.
  • Must be able and willing to work outdoors in various outdoor weather conditions.
  • Must be able to operate a variety of woodworking power tools.
  • Required to provide own hand tools.
  • Must hold a current and valid driver’s license and be able to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must comply with all applicable safety and local regulations, standards, and procedures, including the California and Federal building codes.
  • Must be able to interact and possess communication skills with individuals at all levels of organization, as well as clients and vendors.
  • Must have a positive attitude towards the job and the duties as assigned and willingness to learn, all which should align to Aramark’s core values, LEARN, WEST and SERVE.

 

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).
