The Patient Care Technician (PCT) works under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians to provide direct patient care in various healthcare settings. This multi-skilled position combines the responsibilities of a nursing assistant with advanced clinical skills, delivering compassionate care while supporting the medical team. Multiple locations available across our healthcare network, offering flexibility for candidates seeking positions in different geographic areas.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic patient care duties including bathing, grooming, feeding, and toileting
- Take and accurately record vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration)
- Collect specimens including blood, urine, and other samples as directed
- Perform EKG procedures and basic phlebotomy services
- Assist with patient mobility, transfers, and positioning
- Monitor and document intake and output
- Set up and maintain medical equipment
- Stock patient rooms and treatment areas with necessary supplies
- Assist nursing staff with treatments and procedures
- Observe and report changes in patient condition or behavior
- Respond promptly to patient call signals
- Maintain clean and safe patient environment
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Document all care provided according to facility protocols
- Adhere to all infection control and safety guidelines
- Perform additional duties as assigned based on facility needs
Requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of PCT training program or equivalent
- Current PCT/CNA certification as required by state regulations
- BLS/CPR certification
- Phlebotomy and EKG certifications (required or preferred depending on location)
- Previous healthcare experience preferred
- Basic computer skills for electronic medical record documentation
- Successful completion of background check and drug screening
- Current immunizations as required by healthcare facilities
