We're hiring a Project Accountant  to work out of our Oakland  office in a hybrid capacity.

Position Description : Manages project billings, maintains financial records, resolves accounts receivable issues, and builds client relations. The  Ideal Candidate  will bring strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and prior experience in billing within a professional services or A/E/C firm environment.

Compensation : The pay rate for the Project Accountant generally ranges between $85,000 and $105,000 annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to pay transparency laws. Actual pay rates will be based on various factors, including education level, work experience, and candidate qualifications.

Job Description : The Project Accountant supports the financial management of projects by handling invoicing, project setup, and reporting, while ensuring accuracy and compliance with billing procedures. This role works closely with firm leadership and project teams to track financial performance, resolve billing issues, and streamline accounting processes.


Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate a collaborative working relationship with Company Principals and Practice Area Leaders.
  • Develop expertise in invoice preparation to become a trusted advisor. This includes daily processing of fixed fee and hourly invoices, running monthly invoice reports for sub-consultant payments, closing projects, processing write-offs and summarizing project financials.
  • Perform new project set-up and establish cost codes. Enter project/contract information in the Accounting system.
  • Complete Project Summary write-up to accompany month-end billing packets
  • Generate recurring and ad-hoc reports to identify key performance indicators.
  • Research and resolve accounts receivable issues. Communicate with clients regarding past due invoices.
  • Perform quality assurance to ensure complete and accurate project files. Note discrepancies on billing reports.
  • Recommend standardization and streamline workflow as possible. 


Minimum Requirements
:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or a related field) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years accounting and contract/billing experience.
  • Excellent PC skills.
  • Aptitude for problem solving financial discrepancies.
  • Attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines with a positive attitude.

Desired Requirements :

  • Experience with professional service contracts/billings.
  • Work experience in an architectural or engineering firm.
  • Experience in collections.
  • Exposure to AEC360 a major plus.
