Andaz Miami Beach is now recruiting Safety Officers to join the hotel’s opening team. An art-deco building and architectural landmark is home to the newest luxury lifestyle hotel located in the heart of Mid-beach. Opening in early 2025, the property boasts 287 guestrooms including 34 breathtaking suites and the ONLY Ocean-view arrival experience in Miami Beach. The design features elements of texture, art, and pops of color that create a unique and captivating experience. Each suite is designed with floor-to-ceiling windows, most with deep-soaking tubs, and cozy reading nooks. Guests can also enjoy private outdoor terraces with stunning views of the Atlantic and the Miami skyline. Unmatched amenities include a full-service spa, a well-equipped fitness center, a destination dining experience by José Andrés, two pools, and a Beach Club catering to the who’s who of Miami. Spanning 25,000 square feet of innovative indoor and outdoor event space, Andaz Miami Beach will become a landing spot for guests and locals seeking celebratory gatherings that embrace the city's culture of music, art, and fashion.

Position Summary

To oversee all occupational health & safety issues within the hotel, ensuring a smooth operation and therefore contribute to maximizing guest satisfaction consistent with Hyatt International standards, through planning, organizing, directing, and controlling.

Position Responsibilities/ Essential Functions

· Coordinates and conducts fire evacuation drills & training for all employees

· Responsible for the timely completion and submission of training records and reports

· Supports the hotel’s focus on safety and security by training and assisting others to train people to follow the protocol that would ensure the safety of the hotel’s external customers (guests) and internal customers (employees).

· Ensures the timely renewal of fire extinguishers, fire alarm system, PA system and any other safety related systems.

· Conducts fortnightly/monthly checking of: Fire extinguishers, emergency phones, signage’s of fire exits, emergency evacuation routes & fire staircases

· Conducts quarterly/half yearly checks of Smoke detectors and first aid equipment

· Routine checks of public areas to detect unsafe conditions, and missing or inoperative safety equipment.

· Assists/Organizes the Security Fire Fighting Team in the event of an emergency.

· Ensures all Fire Exits are clear from obstruction at all times.

· Assists in the investigation of any accidents, security or fire related incidents and security incidents involving hotel guest and employees. Ensuring all reports are completed by relevant parties and submitted in a timely manner.

· Be able to multi-task and carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.

· To be well versed with the Hotel safety and security procedures and be vigilant about observing and reporting anything unusual.

· Keep abreast with new legislation and ensures the hotel remains OSH compliant.

· Conduct risk assessments and follow through with steps to reduce or eliminate risks.

Qualifications

  • A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment.
  • Refined verbal and written communication skills
  • 1-3 years of safety and security experience preferred
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk moderate distances
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
  • Able to take initiative and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to treat with medical emergencies.
  • Ability to train other associates in areas of safety and security.
  • Ability to write comprehensive reports.
