Job Description
We are looking for a skilled and experienced UAV Pilot/Instructor to support both the operation and training of Unmanned Aircraft Systems. This role involves overseeing ground and flight operations for training sessions within the United States and during overseas missions. You will provide critical technical support, ensuring smooth operations and playing a pivotal role in mission success and program development. Your expertise in both flight operations and training will be essential in maintaining high standards of safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Flight Operation Planning: Collaborate with the team to plan and execute flight operations based on customer-driven requirements.
Safety Checks: Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight safety checks to ensure compliance with safety standards.
UAS Operation: Pilot UAVs remotely, following flight plans or adjusting as needed to meet mission objectives.
Training & Development: Deliver comprehensive training programs to new UAV pilots, ensuring they understand and adhere to operational protocols and safety guidelines.
Overseas Support: Provide support for flight operations outside the continental United States (OCONUS) as needed, for extended periods (up to four months).
Customer Demonstrations: Conduct flight demonstrations at remote locations for customers, showcasing the capabilities of UAV systems.
Technical Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve equipment issues to maintain mission readiness.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all flight operations comply with FAA regulations and other applicable guidelines.
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Unmanned Systems or a related field, with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or 9 years of experience in lieu of formal education.
A minimum of 500 hours of flight experience as a Pilot in Command.
Previous experience with Vigilant Spirit and Quattro FMS is required.
Must currently hold or be able to obtain a DoD Secret-level security clearance, with the ability to upgrade to a Top Secret clearance.
Must be able to obtain an FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
Willingness to travel up to 100% within the U.S. and internationally (OCONUS).
Comfortable operating UAS in a variety of weather and lighting conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of a degree or training in aviation, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Research and development experience is a plus.
Experience writing publications or technical documents.
A Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate from the FAA.
A Private Pilot License.
Experience in deployed UAS Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform the physical tasks associated with the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. This includes tasks such as distinguishing wire cable colors, moving or lifting equipment weighing up to 100 pounds, climbing ladders, and working at heights.
