Primary Responsibilities

The Senior Tax Accountant will oversee all aspects of income tax, including provisions, external reporting, compliance, and audits. This role also involves providing relevant tax information for regional regulatory matters and serving as the point of contact for income tax-related issues within assigned regions.

Key Duties

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual income tax provisions, as well as tax-related financial statement notes.
• Handle the preparation of U.S. federal and state income tax returns, along with estimated payments and extensions.
• Reconcile taxes payable and deferred tax balances on a quarterly basis.
• Address federal and state audit inquiries.
• Conduct research on various income tax matters and summarize findings.
• Ensure the timely filing of tax-related documentation for regional regulatory proceedings.
• Manage tax forecasting efforts and communicate outcomes to the budgeting team.

• Self-motivated with the ability to complete assignments independently.
• Familiarity with tax software such as CCH, CHECKPOINT, PowerTax, and PowerTax Provision is advantageous.
• Knowledge of ASC 740 (FAS 109) and FIN 48 - Income Tax Accounting
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required.
• CPA certification or progress toward CPA designation is preferred.
• Master’s degree in taxation is a plus.
• Minimum of five years of experience in tax compliance and tax accounting.
• Experience working in a regulated utility industry is desirable.
• Background in a multi-subsidiary corporate environment required.
• Big 4 public accounting experience is a plus.
